JavaScript Engineer Intern Fall 2023


How will you make an impact in this role?


As a JavaScript Engineer Intern at American Express, you will be part of our agile team and will be designing, developing and delivering on value add initiatives for the International market. Efforts in this role will require and nurture a broad set of skills including, but not limited to Requirement analysis, design solutions, best coding practices, CI/CD pipelining and testing & automation.

You will have the opportunity to contribute on projects with real market impact and gain invaluable experience through a variety of initiatives.
You will also have the opportunity to join Communities of Technical Practice to pursue your topic(s) of interest. This role may be subject to additional background verification checks.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Science/Technology/Engineering/Mathematics degree with demonstrated interest in building software as a career.
  • Demonstrated analytical and design skills with sensitivity to user-system interaction.
  • Demonstrated written, oral and diagrammatic communication skills.
  • Demonstrated extensive knowledge and understanding of JavaScript.
  • Demonstrated experience with JavaScript libraries
  • Demonstrated experience with JavaScript technologies like ReactJs, TypeScript, jQuery, Redux, NodeJs
  • Demonstrated experience with source control like Git, Maven/Gradle, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Reporting tools such as Tableau and PowerBI
  • Familiarity with SQL (Creating stored procedures, SQL queries for integration with other applications)
  • Ability to challenge the status quo and improve existing processes
  • Familiarity with testing tools like jUnit, Selenium & Jest
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development process
  • Familiarity with prototyping tools
